About GESS

In the last three decades, Gastroenterological Society of Singapore (GESS) has hosted Scientific Meetings (GIHep), Endoscopy Workshops and Postgraduate Courses for doctors and nurses annually. In 1995, GESS collaborated with American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) to hold its first Asian AGA meeting in Singapore. Since then, GESS has continued to host other successful regional meetings in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, such as the Asian Pacific Digestive Week (APDW) in 2003, 2011 and 2025.

Its objectives are:

  • To advance the knowledge and practice of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Singapore.
  • To promote research in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
  • To promote regional and international collaborations with other Gastroenterological societies.
  • To organize meetings, seminars and conventions on Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endoscopy.
